Vigie

Vigie is a small peninsula located on the northern coast of Saint Lucia, near the capital city of Castries. The area is home to the George F. L. Charles Airport, the main airport of Saint Lucia.

In the past, the Vigie peninsula was an important strategic location for the defense of the island. During colonial times, the British established a fort on the peninsula to protect against potential French attacks. The fort was later rebuilt in the 20th century and named Fort Charlotte, in honor of Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III of England.

Today, the area surrounding Vigie has become a popular residential and commercial district, with many hotels, restaurants, and shops. The nearby Vigie Beach is a popular spot for both tourists and locals, with its clear waters and stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. Vigie also hosts several cultural events throughout the year, including the annual Saint Lucia Jazz Festival.
